Located along the
Campbell
Highway, four hours from
Whitehorse,
Faro was once a booming mining town and today attracts visitors with its natural
attractions and activities. Visitors can start off by visiting the
Campbell
Region Interpretive Centre featuring tourist information and wildlife displays.
Fannin Sheep, a rare thin-horned species, are a popular site in town and can
be viewed at the
Mount
Mye Sheep Centre. Birdwatching is also common in the area, with Faro situated
along the
Tintina
Trench. The historic
Dena
Cho Trail, was once used by gold prospectors and now offers backcountry
hiking and day trips. Spend the day fishing at
Fisheye
Lake, stocked with rainbow trout and kokanee, or paddle down the
Pelly
River, finding campsites and scenic wilderness views along its shores.
