Sign Post Forest Over 60,000 signs cover rows of signposts from all over at the Sign Post Forest. The first sign was erected in 1942 by Carl Lindley, an American soldier working on the construction of the Alaska Highway. He placed a sign marking the distance and location of his hometown and others followed suit. Today, many visitors make this attraction their first stop when travelling northbound in the Yukon.
