Watson Lake at a Glance
Watson Lake is the gateway to the Yukon,
as it's one of the first towns travellers encounter on northern road trips along
the Alaska
Highway. With a population of over 1500 people, Watson Lake is the third
largest community in the territory. Popular attractions include the Watson Lake
Visitor
Information Centre, showcasing displays of the Alaska Highway's construction,
and the Sign
Post Forest, which features a collection of signs from all over the globe.
A stop at the Northern
Lights Centre provides insight into the mysterious aurora borealis, featuring
multimedia shows and interactive exhibits. Walk along the boardwalk at Wye
Lake Park, admiring the wildflowers and wildlife, or enjoy a picnic at the
Lucky
Lake Recreation Site. Other outdoor activities include golfing at Greenway's
Greens Golf and Country Club, one of five courses located in the Yukon,
or a day-trip to the Liard
Hot Springs, which attracts many visitors.
